I am in a foul mood of my own creation. I wish I had some kind of labor dispute going on so I could take it out on some asshole union organizer or business agent. Those guys suck even worse than lawyers. I think I am g oing to close the office at lunch, pay everyone for the day, and send them off to start their holiday early. I think everyone has had enough of me for the week, including me.

Pumpkin is trying to figure out why I am sitting here in the dark. She has had her morning snack, so all is well in her world.

One of my associates did her first grievance arbitration hearing yesterday against a partner from the most prominent union side law firm on the West Coast, and perhaps in the country. David Rosenfeld, the attorney who is the face of the firm is a notorious asshole, and the firm follows his lead. David hates me, and is reduced to a sputtering, f-bomb hurling spitball every time he sees me. (These are the things I need to avoid post heart attack)

Anyway, the Union lawyer couldn’t have been nastier to my associate, so much so that even the court reporter commented on it and the arbitrator told her to rei n it in. At the end of the hearing, the Union lawyer wouldn’t even shake my associate’s hand. They are so predictable, and it helps me retain good lawyers. And this associate is going to be really good in the role I have planned for her. She has no idea how successful I want to make her.

We are going to win that case and make them look stupid. An interesting story about this law firm. It was founded by the now deceased Victor Van Bourg, the so called “lion of the labor movement.” After Victor died, the feds figured out that he was helping the Iron Workers Union steal from the pension, and the law firm had to pay a fine and take his name off the door.

Those of you who may judge me harshly should keep in mind that these are the people that despise me the most and do their damndest to smear me. I have 2 cases in the pipeline where I think I am going to sue unions for workers. Things are almost never what they seem, because the world is an exceedingly messy place.

Remember that if you screw up, and the whole world turns on you, a guy like me comes in handy.
